Timeserver Options Tab

The Timeserver tab offers a choice for the location and type of connection to the timeserver you will be using. You can choose a NIST, NTP, Time or Daytime timeserver. You can also connect directly to the server over the Internet of through a proxy server. If an Internet connection is unavailable then you can call the NIST directly on the phone using the computer's modem.


Connection Frame (CW Pro, Server)
Internet/LAN
When selected, communicates directly to the specified timeserver over the Internet, using the protocol and port specified.

Internet/Dial up
When selected, will first dial your ISP to make a connection to the Internet and then sync the clock using the timeserver specified.  For configuration options use Setup.

Setup
Configure how ClockWatch will make connection with the Internet and opens the Internet connection screen

Direct modem connection
When selected, uses the modem to call the NIST directly and sync up time signals over the phone line. When selected, ignores the other options in this frame.

Setup
Configure the modem used to make the direct modem connection with the NIST. Opens the option screen for direct modem connection.


Source Frame

Address of timeserver
Enter the IP address of name of the timeserver (i.e.: time-a.nist.gov or 167.166.116.1). ClockWatch Client users should enter the IP of the ClockWatch Server.

Hint: Check the Directory button for a list of  timeservers.
